Who wants to tie one on? Or, in other words, Who needs a drink? Either way you say it the answer is the same: Everyone! But pray tell, oh gentle Barman, what shall thine poison be for these brisk nights of autumn? Lament not, good friends, you needn't soliloquy, tieroom has got you covered with a trio of bourbon cocktails that are as easy to make as they are to order. Bourbon you speak? Tell thee more.

Bourbon and Ginger Ale:

This is a you-could-do-it-with-hands-tied-behind-your-back recipe for a cocktail that perfectly mimics the transition from summer to fall. Like a chilled breeze on a warm day, this little number is refreshingly reminiscent of summer concoctions, with enough spice and biting warmth to suggest Fall is here.

What you need:

  • Tumbler glass
  • Favorite bourbon
  • Favorite ginger ale or ginger beer
  • Favorite bitters
  • Ice (preferably crushed or small cubes)

How to make:

  • Put ice in glass
  • 1 part bourbon
  • 3 parts ginger ale or ginger beer
  • 3 dashes of bitters
  • Stir

The Oldest of Old Fashions:

In the beginning, this is how they were made. The color of falling foliage with a bite that demands slow sipping, this classic is like a liquid sweater. Simple. Unadorned. Perfect.

What you need:

  • Tumbler glass
  • Favorite bourbon
  • Favorite bitters (Angostura if wanting to be truly authentic)
  • Sugar cubes
  • Water
  • Ice (optional; if you must, a single square cube)
  • Muddler

How to make:

  • Put a single sugar cube in glass
  • Three dashes of bitters
  • Tiny splash of water (only enough to soak the bitters into the sugar cube)
  • Muddle contents with muddler
  • 2 oz of bourbon
  • Swirl

Maple Leaf:

When Old Man Winter is knocking on the doorstep, the Maple Leaf keeps things nice and cozy. This one is breakfast for dinner, but in a glass. And, yes, a couple of pieces of bacon to nibble on wouldn't be the worst idea.

What you need:

  • Tumbler glass or mason jar (Classy or casual; your choice)
  • Bourbon
  • Maple syrup
  • Lemon juice
  • Ice
  • Shaker
  • Favorite bacon (if so inclined)

How to make:

  • In shaker, pour 2 oz bourbon, 3/4 oz maple syrup, 3/4 oz lemon juice
  • Shake
  • Pour over ice
  • Garnish with bacon (if so inclined)

Oh, thank thee, gentle Barman. Another, if you please. Cheers!
